Backup2 is a set of backup programs, the main difference between each of them being the destination type they back up to - each of them stores the backup on a distinct one. To decide which one suits you best, you have to answer this question first: Where do I want to back up my data?
I want to back up to:- DVD, CD or Blu-ray Discs: Backup2 DVD does that
- FTP servers: Choose Backup2 FTP
- Removable or external drives: Backup2 USB or Backup2 Portable support these
- Local drive or mapped network drives: Use Backup2 HDD
- Shared network computers or NAS devices: Backup2 NET supports them
- All of the above: Use Backup4all
Backup2 USB
Backup2 USB lets you back up the source data on removable or external hard drives such as USB/Firewire enclosures, USB flash drives, floppy disks. The files can be stored either as standard zip archives or without any compression at all, and once defined the backups can be scheduled to run automatically.
Backup2 DVD
Use Backup2 DVD to back up your data to a DVD, Blu-ray Disc or CD. It has its own burning engine, splits the backup on multiple discs, automatically tests the backed up files, can be scheduled to run at specific time intervals and allows protecting the backup with AES encryption (if compression is used).
Backup2 FTP
Backup2 FTP will store the backed up data only to FTP servers that you define either globally (same FTP settings used on all backup jobs), or individually for each backup job. The data will be securely transferred to the FTP server (using SSL encryption) and the backup files will be tested to ensure that they were not corrupted as during transfer (uses XCRC to speed up the test).
Backup2 Portable
With Backup2 Portable you can use as destination any removable or external storage device such as USB/Firewire enclosures, USB flash drives, floppy disks. Backup2 Portable can be installed only on USB flash drives, so it gives you the possibility to have it with you anywhere you go. Stored data can be archived using standard zip (and encrypted) or uncompressed.
Backup2 HDD
Backup2 HDD backs up source data to the local hard drive or any mapped network drive. As the other backup programs from the Backup2 set, Backup2 HDD lets you choose any of the four different backup types: full, differential, incremental and mirror backup.
Backup2 NET
Backup2 NET lets you save the backup to a shared network drive (another computer from the network or a network attached storage device). This solution is more suitable for backing up client computers to a central backup server from the same network.
Backup4all Professional
While each of the Backup2 suite of programs is targeted at a specific destination, Backup4all Professional includes them all. With Backup4all you can back up your data to any local or network drive, to FTP destinations, DVD/CD or Blu-ray discs, or other removable/external drives (such as USB/Firewire enclosures or USB flash drives).Easily backup and restore data
Even if you're seeing the program for the first time, the backup wizard will allow you to easily create a backup job and start protecting your data. It's as simple as selecting Where to back-up (destination), What to backup (sources), How to backup (what backup type to use) and When to backup (scheduling automatic backups).
Backup plugins
The Backup2 applications come with support for back-up plugins. Once installed, these plugins can be used to easily back-up or restore specific programs' settings or other custom data (like game saves, email data, etc.).
Predefined backup jobs
By default, several predefined backup plugins are installed, and these let you easily define a backup job for: My documents, My pictures, Outlook Express emails and settings, Internet Explorer favorites, Mozilla Firefox profiles, Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook emails and settings.
Multiple backup destinations
Backup2 is a set of backup programs, the main difference between each of them being the destination type they back up to as each of them stores the backup on a distinct destination: Backup2 FTP stores backups only to FTP locations, Backup2 USB stores the backup only to USB/Firewire or removable devices, Backup2 DVD stores the backup only to CD/DVD/Blu-ray, Backup2 NET stores the backup only on network drives, Backup2 HDD stores your backup only on local drives and Backup2 Portable to removable disks or usb/firewire destinations.
Intuitive Interface
The Getting Started window offers quick links to the main functions (backup and restore) as well as information for first time users. If you prefer the Explorer-like interface, the Backup2 applications offer an Explore View that lets you see all files and folders that are in the backup job, with information on which ones will be stored at the next backup execution. You can sort and search the file tree in Explore view.
Multiple backup types
There are four backup types to choose from: full backup, differential backup, incremental backup and mirror backup. This allows backing up the files using standard zip compression, or simply mirroring them without any compression at all.
Standard compression format
The Backup2 applications create standard zip files. This means that the backup file is compatible with any zip utility. Unlike other backup programs, if the resulting zip backup files are greater than 2GB, zip64 technology will be used. This means that the resulting backup file (in zip format) can have an unlimited size and let you encrypt the zip files using AES encryption (256-bits).
Open file backup
The Backup2 programs use the Volume Shadow Copy service which let you back up files in use (local open files) from NTFS partitions in Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2008 Server. As an example, you can back up Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird emails and settings without closing them.
Save Time
There's no need to manually run a backup to ensure your data is safe. Simply schedule the backup jobs to run automatically and you'll have an unattended backup solution in place.
Save Money
Because each Backup2 program backs up to a different destination, we were able to lower the price to make each application more than affordable. This will save you money since you don't pay for features that you wouldn't have used anyway.
Stay safe
Hard drives fail, it's not a myth it's a fact. Would your business survive if you would lose all your data? What about all those precious personal photos of your children growing up? If you start backing up your data with the Backup2 applications you'll avoid such risks.
Universality
Other backup programs will keep the resulting backup files in a proprietary format, so that in order to restore you'll need to have that program installed. The Backup2 programs create standard zip files and use a backup catalog to keep track of new and modified files. This ensures compatibility with any other backup program or zip utility.
Free support
As an user of any Backup2 programs, you are entitled to free email support even if you are using the free 30 day trial version. By installing the free trial version and having your questions answered by our support team, you will be able to evaluate the program thoroughly before deciding to purchase it.
Automatic updates
You can configure it to check for updates either manually or automatically at a scheduled date. This way you'll be able to keep your program up-to-date without any hassles.
- Each program can be customized so that it will only back-up to a specific location. For example, Backup2 USB can be customized to back up only to USB/Firewire enclosures developed by a certain company. This way your users will only be able to use your product as a destination.
- We can add more features to it, or remove from the existing ones depending on your specific need. The less features you want added, the cheaper the price.
- We can have your customized version ready in a few days, so you can start selling quite fast after you choose the solution.
- You will deliver a complete backup solution, not only the hardware product, which counts in a highly competitive market such as the storage devices marketplace.
- Optional technical support can be negotiated
